Centenary Commemoration of the football match between Bristol City FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC

The year 2009 will be an eventful year for the Walter Tull Sports and Arts Development Association. The year 1909 was a pivotal year in the life of Walter Tull as it marked an event that was to begin his metamorphosis from a mere footballer to a hero on the sport field and eventually a war hero. The event in question was the infamous Tottenham Hotspur vs. Bristol City in October 1909. To honour the occasion Walter Tull Sports and Arts Development Association is planning a couple of events:

Centenary Commemoration Football Match to be played between Bristol City FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC – currently requested as a pre-season friendly for June/July 2009

Young peoples community football tournament - The Walter Tull Trophy

This tournament will bring 2000 young people together ( girls and boys) in an event that will bring different communities together with the main focus of the tournament being community cohesion and fair play. This will be an opportunity for some teams from Bristol playing other teams from Bristol,London, Northampton and Glasgow.These were the districts who has some kind of connection with Walter Tull football historical facts. The tournament is expected to attract many supportive local business and celebrities from the sport and music world.

The Walter Tull Awards 2009

The aim of this event is to recognise the achievements of many adults and young people who has demonstrated performance that are exemplars to the outcomes that we are aiming to achieve in our educational programmes. This will be a special occasion for the young people and a marvellous opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute to our educational development work.

We are currently planning to host this event in October 2009
